Unclear what the default kit site should look like

I followed the default instructions for local Jekyll installation and got the jekyll server running, but the page running in http://localhost:4000/ is just an H1 that says Jekyll Starter Kit. Is that intended? I am confused, because I see a bunch of other topics in the repository.

If this is intended, please clarify, perhaps by adding a screenshot of the default. Links on the homepage to other topics might be helpful as well, or a simple menu.

If this is not intended, then it is a bug and should be fixed.
