But this is just a standard pdf word doc like layout, not so pretty or inspiring:

Making the content as engaging and beautifully designed as the site is really important if you want people to get inspired and use it.

Thanks for your feedback! We definitely wanted to make book template more beautiful, unfortunately Latex is not as simple as HTML and has a lot of limitations. We use Pandoc, because it allows us to simply convert Markdown content to PDF, HTML or other formats, but it doesn't allow us to do much with the PDF template... In addition, it's mostly a free book, all proceeds go into making our events (http://makerland.org/) more accessible for everyone, and hiring a professional designer to do book wasn't an option.

However, we will try to improve over time, so stay tuned for updates!
