Manifold has two sets of fonts that it ships with. One set is freight pro and sofia. These are our preferred fonts for Manifold. Unfortunately, they’re not open source. For instances we host, we serve these fonts through typkit (now adobe fonts), which is why there’s a setting in the backend to set a Typekit kit ID#. If the typekit setting isn’t present, Manifold falls back Aleo (for freight) and Trueno (for Sophia), which are the closest open source versions we could find.
To get fancy fonts, users need to create a typekit font kit and enter the ID in the "theme" settings. The kit should contain “Freight Text Pro” with light, book, and book italic and “Sofia Pro” with light, regular, medium, semi-bold, and bold.
We should document this somewhere.
