Hey @nyanmisaka,
there is a patch that might fix this issue: rockchip-linux/mpp#560 (comment). Have you tried it? Does this really fix the issue? Looks like some stuff just gets disabled, is it a real fix or just some hacky workaround?
Sorry for asking and nevermind if you don't know. I am just asking because I never compiled linux myself and think it is very time consuming, so I wanted to make sure if it is worth trying.

I'm traveling so I can't compile and comment on it right now. I think you can fork Joshua's ubuntu-rockchip and linux-rockchip, then make some minor changes and compile a new image using GH action.

@MarcA711 is there a fix for this to prevent the ffmpeg sessions from crashing and hanging?

I haven't tested it yet, because I had no time and don't know how to compile and install the kernel on my system. If you can test it and provide some details (like if it influences performance), I would be grateful.

Actually, I run across this issue just a few times. But it will highly depend on how much memory you normally use etc. However, maybe your problems are caused by some other bug as well? Does sudo dmesg list something like out of memory after you experience this issue?
