At first i got some "start problems" with mlstats, because i tried to parse the complete mailman server e.g. http://lists.typo3.org/ or http://lists.freebsd.org/
This page is the overview page of a mailman server.

After some tries i recognized that i have to add specific mailing lists e.g. http://lists.typo3.org/pipermail/typo3-dev/

Maybe it would be a nice feature to enable parsing of a complete mailman server instead of adding every mailing list on its own.

I am unsure about this. I would prefer a nicer message explaining the issue and ideas on how to solve it.

This is a good idea!
Maybe i will integrate it and send a PR.

For my usecase (to crawl a complete mailman server) i found another
solution.
Just an idea
