UPDATE: TL;TR: This tutorial requires a review and update overhaul according to the latest Hugo, etc.

This tutorial creates config.toml which has now been deprecated, see gohugoio/hugo#8979 The hugo new site will create hugo.toml and user ands up with two file

  • config.toml with single line theme = "ananke"
  • hugo.toml

and this situation is not handled by Hugo.

Additionally, user of this tutorial will observe the following ananke's error

image

see theNewDynamic/gohugo-theme-ananke#678

According to this tutorial, once completed, user should see

deployed-app

whereas in fact, user visiting their newly created site will be greeted with something like this

image

and the generated GitHub Actions workflow will display the error like this

image

That is, because the tutorial is missing steps adding file(s) with actual site content.
