Instructions for setting up a Skype meeting.

From the Windows 8 Machine

Using Skype

FYI: Normally, there should not be an advantage of using Skype for Business over Skype, see here for the comparison.

  • First off, here's the reference to the troubleshooting document in case you need it;
  • On the desktop, there is an icon Skype;
  • Start Skype and log in with your private account's user name and password;
  • Skype has already been configured to use the microphone/speaker combination and videocamera that are present in the room. The microphone/speaker combination is called Chat50, while the videocamera is called Logitech <something or other>. You should not need to change this.
  • On the Advanced tab of the Crestron screen (or the iPad), make sure that
    • you have enabled audio for the Windows 8 machine (if you did, there should be a green circle next to Windows 8 in the Advanced tab)
    • the Logitech camera is actually out of its cubbyhole (you can do this by pressing Lift camera in the Advanced tab)
  • For information about screen sharing, look here
  • When you're done, don't forget to log out of Skype, e.g. by right-clicking the icon in the system tray.

Using Skype for business

FYI: Normally, there should not be an advantage of using Skype for Business over Skype, see here for the comparison.

  • On the desktop, there is an icon Skype for Business;
  • Start Skype for Business and log in as user [email protected] using the same password as for logging into the Windows 10 machine itself; the credentials are posted here.
  • Skype for Business has been configured to use the microphone/speaker combination and videocamera that are present in the room.
  • Microsoft has provided this support article for screen sharing.
