OpenStudio PAT 3.2.0 is supported on 64-bit Windows 7 – 10, OS X 10.14 – 10.15, and Ubuntu 18.04.

For all cloud-based deployments of OpenStudio Server, please see the Kubernetes and Helm repository - https://github.com/NREL/OpenStudio-server-helm. The major benefit of this change vs using AMIs is multi-cloud support for Google, Azure and AWS.

Deprecation Warning: Now extended until the 3.2 release (estimated April 2021), cloud-based deployment of OpenStudio Server will be updated to leverage the widely adopted open source tools, Kubernetes and Helm. A major benefit of this change will be to provide a deployment pathway for multiple cloud providers, including but not limited to AWS. Additional details related to this update are available on the wiki. The openstudio-server-helm repo provides documentation and scripts to facilitate deployment and debugging of OSS on a variety of cloud platforms.

These release notes describe version 3.0.0 of the Parametric Analysis Tool (PAT) developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Buildings and Thermal Systems, Commercial Buildings Research Group, Tools Development Section, and associated collaborators. The notes are organized into the following sections:

Installation Notes

OpenStudio PAT 3.0.0 is supported on 64-bit Windows 7 – 10 and OS X 10.12 – 10.15

OpenStudio PAT 3.0.0 supports OpenStudio Release v3.0.0 and EnergyPlus Release 9.3, which is bundled with the OpenStudio PAT installer.

OpenStudio PAT 3.0.0 now uses Ruby 2.5.5 as the supported ruby version (2.2.4 previously).

Installation Steps

  • Download and install OpenStudio PAT. Note that OpenStudio PAT is a standalone app and does not require you to install OpenStudio SDK.

Changelog

  • CMake and build rules to provide PAT installer (previously this was packaged as part of the OpenStudio SDK).

  • Updated OpenStudio SDK from v2.9.1 to v3.0.0

  • Updated EnergyPlus from v9.2.0 to v9.3.0
