Ishihara Qian's turbulence model gives better results when compared with real operating data on onshore wind turbines.
We believe that its implementation in FLORIS would be very interesting, since it would allow, in addition to evaluating in terms of power, to take into account information on turbulence intensity.
Thank you for your interest! While it would be great to have the model proposed by Ishihara and Qian included in FLORIS v4, we don’t currently have plans to include it due to the scope of work required and other competing priorities.
With that being said, if you have the time/opportunity to implement the model for FLORIS, I’d be happy to help get it integrated and included in a future release. This would require you to implement the Ishihara-Qian wake model on your fork of FLORIS in a similar manner to how the other wake models are implemented, and then create a pull request to merge your code into the main NREL/floris repository. Once the pull request is up, I can help with any final formatting and testing needed to prepare for merger. Note also that as there are several Gaussian wake models already available, you may be able to leverage existing code to a reasonable extent.
If this is of interest to you, I’m happy to have a call to discuss this more!
