Helen's unsolicited advice (shocker):

  • Double quotation marks for direct quotations

  • Single quotation marks for coming phrases

  • Nested structures requiring the above to use doublea on the outside and singles on the inside to denote clearly where the entire quotation finishes

Example (s):

  • X, Y and Z (2018) stated that "Obtained results might have been affected by a state of 'brain fog' described by several of the participants"
