A while ago (february 2015 I think) we started work on raster2 vector but we never got it completed. The code that's in there right now seems to kind of work but when I tested it quickly I noticed an offset or a stretch when loading the derived vector on top of the original raster.

Tasks that need doing:

  1. Figure out how bad the current code is.
  2. Make any improvements/rewrites that are discovered in (1)
  3. Implement a pure "C" interface for this method.
  4. Test the product with enough edge cases to give you confidence.
