is it possible to distribute libsteam_api.so with my application?

I wrote a steam workshop upload tool using steamworks-rs and it works fine (on Linux) when running with cargo run but not when I execute it by itself.

I spent hours looking for a way to make it find libsteam_api.so without needing to set environment variables or having the .so installed on the system folders, but apparently it isn't possible. is that the case? there's no way to bundle it with the program like the windows version?
