Tonight, during playing my friends and I discovered that the "eye" icon stays full at all times, whether you're prone/crouching or just running around. The only time the Eye becomes dark is if you're in a vehicle.
Now, when it comes to the zombies, we've managed to be surrounded by about 13 zombies and none of them will attack. They do respond to movement, but they do not attack. However, if you enter a vehicle and the "eye" becomes dark, the zombies will begin attacking your vehicle, but upon exiting the vehicle, they will resume just surrounding you doing nothing to you
