Add alternative and less rigorous solutions to convert the data to monthly resolution

The current method for converting data to a monthly resolution is too strict and does not support other formats. At present, users must preprocess their data themselves before using it with the massbalancemachine. It would be more effective if the massbalancemachine could handle different data formats automatically.
