Learning progress gets lost on Sync

I am using Anki on desktop and mobile. When I have learned on mobile and then generate new cards via the plugin without having my learning progress synced to my desktop first, all my learning progress from the mobile session will be lost as soon as I hit sync on mobile.

Replicate:

• Learn on mobile in an Obsidian managed deck.
• Add a new flashcard to this deck in Obsidian and generate the flashcard via the plugin.
• Hit sync in Anki on desktop and mobile
  --> Progress is lost
