  • create contributors map geojson file.
  • Implement map component in /about page
  • migrate existing contributors' data in .all-contributors.srcto the geojson data. ? How to get coordinates?

migrate existing contributors' data in .all-contributors.src to the geojson data. ? How to get coordinates?

You could create a build script that generates the geojson data from .all-contributors.src with some Github API lookups to fetch the location for each username.

Also, it's worth noting many users (myself included) don't disclose their location - maybe they could be put in the middle of the ocean ;)

The build script could be a plain .js file that runs along with build-release, when this lands in production the expected static geofile is there. This little script should be pretty straightforward.
