There are some potential alternatives to improve the pedestrian route over the Shamblehurst Lane North bridge, some of which might make a good manifesto policy:
better lighting
lower speed limit
traffic light control allowing pedestrians to cross the bridge safely, e.g. the Airlie Rd/Ranleigh Rd bridge in Winchester
remove road traffic from the existing bridge and make it a pedestrian/cycle only route, e.g. other parts of Shamblehurst Lane
install a separate pedestrian bridge alongside the existing road bridge outside the station
replace/widen the existing road bridge
provide a drop-off/pick-up layby with waiting area north of the bridge
Any other ideas?

Ideally there should be an accessible route between platforms in the station however getting a bid approved appears to be a distant prospect.
