I am aware that

• every entry in the ontology should have a definition
• classes should arise from concepts rather than from words

We have to keep in mind the scope of the OEO. Things like audio, video and presentation are probably beyond scope.

At least we need metadata.

• SWO (see also Add terminology from software ontology SWO #1502) has: SWO_0000620, but at lease as far as I can see it has no definition and is marked as obsolete.
• REPRODUCE-ME Ontology - https://w3id.org/reproduceme#Metadata: Metadata is the data about data.
• NCI Thesaurus OBO Edition - http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/NCIT_C52095: Data about data; information that describes another set of data.
• Semanticscience Integrated Ontology - [http://semanticscience.org/resource/SIO_001330]: metadata is data that provides information about data.

I like the very short definition from REPRODUCE-ME, but would suggest a small re-phrasal: Metadata is data about data.

We have data descriptor: A data descriptor is an information content entity that contains additional information about some data.
I'd suggest to add meta data as alternative term and link to the mentioned ontologies above via "may be identical to".

I approve of the definition as alternative term and the link. However, metadata is a single word. Thanks for the implementation!
