Git commit log for some datasets cannot be queried

What went wrong?

Some datasets git history for a dataset fails to load. This may be something like a request size limitation. We may need to trim this more than the most recent 100 commits, especially given we have more datasets with more data in a given commit with increased usage of git access to push changes.

Expected behavior

Git commit history should always load. Ideally it should be paginated if requesting a complex history.
