Not getting any notifications from android-messages-desktop on Linux

Describe the bug
When I receive a text, android-messages-desktop (version 5.4.5) does not give any kind of notification. There are no sounds played on receiving new messages, no notification pop-up, and when "Taskbar flash on new message" is checked, the "taskbar" (panel) does not flash.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Run android-messages-desktop
2. Receive a message
3. Nothing notifies you of new message
4. Open android-messages-desktop window, and see that a new message was indeed received, but no notification given

Expected behavior
I would expect, at minimum, to receive a standard notification pop-up when a new message is received. A sound being played would also be nice, but not mandatory for me.

• OS: Linux Mint Cinnamon
• Version: 22

I'm having the same issue on linux (fedora 40, kde plasma). No flashing, no notifications, nothing. FWIW I have the same problem on the windows release.
