Microphone "Levels" are adjusting when on a call. Levels were set at 100% and dropped down to 80% when on a call.

image

  1. Set levels on mic to desired setting.
  2. Make a call.
  3. Speak into mic at different volumes (low to high)
  4. Watch for changes in Levels Tab of Sound Properties.

Expected behavior
Do not auto-adjust mic levels.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Windows 10 Enterprise
  • Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.5011)

What call software are you using? Most now have a setting that will automatically adjust microphone level. I would check in the settings / search for where the setting is in your software.

Hello.

You said that when you make a call that the microphone level changes when speak into the microphone. You must be using some software to be making the call (since Android Messages Desktop only displays text messages and cannot make or receive calls).

I am suggesting it is the software you are using to make the calls is the thing that is causing the microphone levels to change, not Android Messages Desktop (because most modern software used to make calls on computer have microphone level adjustment as a feature).

You can make calls on this Android Messages Desktop app if you have a Google Fi account.

I agree most modern software has some kind of microphone settings, which is why I'm posting this bug. This app supports calls if you use your Google Account. But there is no feature to manage audio input. You can select which microphone to use, but you can't change the volume or make it so that the app does not change the volume.

I have no way to test this feature even I were motivated to figure out how to add one. But will leave open if someone wants to pick up and support a patch.
