how to understand the process with FCS? #1

I've read the GSM 07.10 specification , and match the code about the fcs result.
I'm confused about how to check the fcs result.
it seems that the fcs result just do the "^" operation with current byte, then match the CRC table.
but the specification shows a complicated expression.
how to understand this process?
any other article ? or how this algorithm complete by this simple CRC table?
