It will be good if not only insert will work, i.e. editing existing formula will be allowed too It seems necessary so much not because it is inconvenient to edit, but because fractions are not visually visible and it is difficult to keep track of parentheses. So - another way - like in Typora - show hint with rendered formula when caret inside it. Although, a "pop-up" editor may be required to introduce matrices in the future. As for personal experience: missing of a formula editor/hint annoys me not, but:

Hi @cser! Thank you for your valuable comments. Yes, editing should be also an option. I also changed the way default values for input fileds are entered. Now they are in curly brackets after the question mark, e.g.:
This will make possible step by step solution with #pause and input fields in macros. |

@cser Sorry, I could not manage yesterday. Please, try this prelease version: https://github.com/Proektsoftbg/Calcpad/releases/tag/v5.9.0 I made some improvements on performance and UI responsiveness. It also works on .NET 7 already, so please install this as well: |

About performance I can't say anything now - big calculation don't work now (is it "as planned"? - then I just rewrite it). About not big calculations - can't feel deference. |

I think that many engineers prefer MathCAD or SMath for the abillity to edit formulas graphically.
What about the Idea to put an "Insert formula" button in Calcpad? When you click it, to display a small formula editor window that allows you to input the formula in the same way as MathCAD/SMath. Then, clicking "Insert" to insert it into the current position inside your code.
