Well, it's not total abandonware, as evidenced by #92. But nor is it actively being worked on right now.

However anecdotally speaking, is it very much appropriate for production use. My organisation has been using it for years on critical, high traffic services with no real issues.

I recommend looking at https://github.com/AppMetrics/AppMetrics which has a bigger community and more active development. It's probably best to merge/migrate this library at some point since metrics are pretty standardized now across the industry.
