Files have no file extension when saved

When I want to save a pdf for example the file has no .pdf extension. So when i try to open it via my file browser it doesnt work. I have to remame it and have to add ".pdf" to the file name.

Also it would be very good if we could choose the directory the file will be saved or at least change the name of the file.
