I REALLY like this new Absolute mouse option. I need to set up a couple games to test it out a bit. But for now it's looking like a really nice addition. I might finally be able to play Factorio on a controller.

I did notice a couple things with it though.

• The Anti-deadzone snaps to the wrong side, vertically (ie, if you press UP and then let go, it snaps back to the bottom of the deadzone, instead of the top) . This only seems to happen with "Snap to center" turned on.
• The Height/Width options allow us to select a smaller range of movement, great for locking the mouse inside a UI, like a weapon wheel. But, the current options set it up as a square. It might be beneficial to have an option to set the final range to a circle as well.
• There doesn't seem to be any options to minimize jitter for Sticks mapped to ABS. Probably not an issue, if deadzones are set up right. I still need to test a game out with it, though, so it might not be really noticeable in the kind of cases where it's useful to be using ABS anyway.

I'm excited to try this out. This is a really neat feature that I've been wishing was possible for a while. :D

edit: The touchpad as ABS works really well, too. I'm debating if I want to switch to that instead of the normal mouse option.... Very minimal jitter and quick.

Was thinking maybe stick snapback was at play for snap to center when using anti-release but you are right. The routine has the Y axis inverted. It is a subtle difference on my test profile. That should be a simple fix.

I didn't worry about adding any form of jitter compensation for control absolute mouse as it would probably be redundant. Stick controls already have a Fuzz setting for specifying a minimum stick travel before the mapping routine will use an updated set of stick coordinates. That would be the route to take if there is a lot of play on the analog stick. My DualSense sticks seem to be fairly solid as it can hold a position fairly well. Never tested it with my more used DS4 controllers.

Maybe circle output could be useful in the routine. For now, using a 100% Max Output (with Force enabled) for the sticks would probably get the output close to a circle rather than a square.

The only thing that changed regarding Touchpad Absolute Mouse output was respecting confining the output to a specific monitor. The hardware touchpad has a fairly high built-in dead zone so that would probably be why jitter is less of an issue. Pretty sure there is no jitter compensation happening in that routine.

As a small aside, it is nice to finally have a use for the changes made for the absolute mouse device used for FakerInput. It has been over a year since the driver was originally released and that has been one component I have not used.

Ya, I'm thinking there's a few games I can think of that use a circle for selecting weapons/tools. Having the ABS limited to that circle should work really good for selecting the tools. Grounded is one that I'm playing that has that feature, but it also has controller support. lol I need to find one that doesn't have the controller support.

I don't think it needs Jitter compensation anyway. Touchpad is pretty simple. Your finger is where it is. Joysticks however.... Well... They're just mechanically flawed... That being said, I do really enjoy the ABS on touchpad. It actually gives me a reason to use it more. It's the first use that doesn't make me wish Sony had just skipped adding it to the controller.

Somehow in the 3.1.10 version the language settings are useless now. Don't know what kind of bug that is.

There's several issue tickets about this already. It's a known bug and has been in several versions. It hasn't been fixed yet.
