These fakes pop up every now and then, report them, just leeches that reupload the software to gain a quick buck, not a single cent will reach the actual creators. |

Looks like there are two: one from Landon Studio and the other from MathewsJ. Neither one is me. Looked at the Publisher listings and it looks like both accounts just take open source projects, rebrand them, and then publish them to the Microsoft Store for money. Funny enough, the Landon Studio DS4Windows clone supposedly locks features (despite paying) and requires giving the app a 5 star rating on the store page in order to unlock all the features available in this version. There have been no new reviews in 4 months and the app page has not been updated since January so that scam might be over (264 ratings x $3.89). There probably is not much that can really be done. Reporting would likely do nothing. The MIT license allows taking a program as is and selling it with no need to give access to any source code even if modifications were made. The situation might not be much different if DS4Windows were originally licensed under some copyleft license like the GPL. It is not like I have any real ownership of the DS4Windows name either. |
