This is a ticket to create a text field and button that support a search field for the chat logs across multiple days.

@datahead8888 if you are referring to chatlogs.secretchronicles.de the issue probably doesn’t belong here. That website is completely generated by furbot, or more precisely by its logplus plugin, which in turn is maintained at https://github.com/Quintus/cinch-plugins.

This would not just be a plugin but would instead have a button and be part of the web application logic.
If you feel that the cinch plugins repository is a better fit, though, it can be moved.

@Quintus @datahead8888 I have written irclog search code for furbot at pull request Secretchronicles/furbot#5 for review.

@xet7, I don't really know furbot's code. Where will the user go to run IRC log searches? Will it be accessible from the secretchronicles.de website?

Furbot writes the HTML files that are served at webtest.secretchronicles.de below the plainlogs/ and htmllogs/ directories. He has no access whatsoever to www.secretchronicles.de. It would be possible to replace the start page we have at webtest.secretchronicles.de currently (which is just an Apache directory listing) with a nicer page that also includes a search form. That search form could invoke a CGI application which in turn searches the plainlogs/ (or even the htmllogs/) directory. I’d be unsure in which Git repository the CGI script is to keep, though. Maybe just drop it into its own extras directory in furbot’s repository, and then symlink it on alexandria somewhere it can be accessed by Apache httpd. Main thing is we have it under version control somewhere.

Vale,
Quintus

According to https://secretchronicles.org/en/community/ public logging of IRC channel is prohibited, so search is not necessary.
