Abstract

Obtain a working uInverter as well as the necessary cables and power supply for it.

Approach

  • Obtain a working uInverter (hopefully the uInverter you built as part of Tutorial Unit 1 #1).
  • Check out your uInverter by updating the board log. This is a good time to make sure that the entry for your uInverter has correct information (is it working? what location is it being used in? contact person?). Report the uInverter serial number in the comments on this issue.
  • Read all of the uInverter documentation articles
  • Obtain a power supply for your uInverter
  • Obtain the necessary cable to connect your uInverter to the AMDC inverter port
  • Obtain the necessary cable to connect your uInverter to the analog port of your AMDC.
  • Locate the uInverter schematic PDF for the version of uInverter that you are using (hint: check the AMDC-Hardware repo). In the comments of this issue:
    • place a link to the uInverter schematic file
    • explain the purpose of the parts labeled U1A and U2A in the schematic
    • explain the significance of the voltage you can measure between testpoint TP1A and GND, and how this is the same or different from the voltage you can measure between testpoint PWMA and GND.
    • list the schematic symbols for phase A of the uInverter's load.

To close this issue:

  1. complete the above items
  2. provide a photograph of your uInverter connected to your AMDC in the comments
  3. get an approving review from your instructor (@noguchi-takahiro and @elsevers)

ESD Caution

Remember to follow best practices on avoiding damage from ESD. This includes:

  • Transporting and storing your AMDC in an antistatic / electrostatic bag
  • When working with the AMDC, it should be in either a grounded cabinet or placed upon a grounded ESD mat and you should be wearing a grounding strap
  • Avoid directly touching components on the circuit board when possible
