Perf / best practices - How much impact does a canvas element have? How many are too many?

I'm attempting to use react-native-skia to solve some graphics performance problems in my app (specifically on Android). I'm curious about how much performance impact each canvas element has. To make it concrete:

• Is there a specific number? Such as "you probably shouldn't have more than 5 rendered on any screen"
• Is there a significant overhead to instantiating each canvas or is it cheap like a view?
• What if, for example, I rendered my customizable user avatars with skia and there could be 10-20 avatars displayed on the screen at once in some situations? Would 20 canvas elements with lots of images in each be too much?

It has been our experience so far that Skia views are as cheap as regular views. Please let us know if you experience things otherwise.

Awesome, great to hear. My experience so far has been all good. We've got a very image/graphics heavy react-native app (https://www.taskheroics.com) and my early experiments with skia seem extremely promising for resolving perf issues and overcoming react-native limitations. @wcandillon would you recommend creating the entire UI in react-native-skia. The screen will have many icons, buttons, background image etc. If created it all in skia(including the icons and background image graphics), will it have any impact on performance? My aim is to get maximum performance. I'd like to know what you think
