Default font for Text component

Hello,

I was wondering if was possible in the current implementation for the Text component to use the default system font? It seems to me that currently you need to explicitly load a font, whereas I think it'd be very nice if a default fallback could be used if no font prop is passed to the Text component.

Thoughts?

Yes we are gonna provide a Text API with such capabilities, but the Text component is very likely to stay as is for now.

So, if we work with a multi lingual app, do we need to import multiple fonts based upon the user language?

I would also love to be able to access the default font, as I'm using user-inputted emojis on a common component for my app, and I have to load in google's noto-emoji-color font family, which is 7mb, and seems to slow down the rendering a good amount.

I'm sure there are ways I can speed this up, it just isn't a priority for my app yet.

I don't need to set the font, that would be very handy. Also we need to get the width of the text when use system font.

We are actively working on this topic and we think that he will have something great (hopefully ;-))

Is there a pull request or issue we can watch to see updates on the feature? Also is there a temporary workaround?

What do you think about adding some documentation for this indicating that you need to explicitly load a font? I think it would be good as some of us would assume there would be a default font as well (wasn't very clear the why the first time I was implementing it). I'm happy to open a PR

Yes this has been completely fixed altogether thanks to the Paragraph API: https://shopify.github.io/react-native-skia/docs/text/paragraph/
