RubyConf 2024: Ruby LSP Hack Day

These notes are for those attending the Ruby LSP Hack Day at RubyConf 2024.

Setup

• Ensure you have Ruby 3.3.4 installed
• Clone the ruby-lsp and ruby-lsp-rails repos
• Run bundle in each
  • Also run bundle exec rake in ruby-lsp-rails to ensure the dummy app database is set up
• In case you might need to work on the VS Code extension:
  • Install Node.js v20.9.0
  • Install Yarn
  • Run yarn from within the vscode directory in the ruby-lsp repo.
  • Ensure you have the latest VS Code release

Preparation

• Try out Ruby LSP if you haven’t already. If you run into setup problems we will try to help you at the hackday session.
• Have a brief browse of the features documentation to understand what it provides.
• Review the contributing docs
