If you want to go directly from a GPS tracker to GPS you can do that just fine without Signal K. But instead of doing everything in one plugin you can leverage the Signal K system, data model and other plugins: bring the data to SK and use plugins for output.
This would also bring all other benefits on having the data in Signal K: Freeboard and vesselpositions can show the position, you can write the data to a db, access it remotely etc. |

This solution looks interesting using Wio Terminal and and Seeeduino. https://www.seeedstudio.com/LoRa-GPS-Tracker-with-Wio-Terminal.html Unfortunately an enclosure for the transmitter part is not included into the kit. |

Especially for this, but not via LoRa: However, if you really want to SignalK, use this: |

I like this idea - many times ive wondered how the kids are out in the tender.. Have they run out of fuel, engine problems or just having fun.... @mgrouch Your link above doesnt work anymore, but it did lead me to these https://www.seeedstudio.com/LoRaWAN-Tracker-c-1938.html Did anyone progress this any further? Cheers, |

Not directly related to the subject but perhaps relevant: I track my dingy (possibly also a MOB) with a GPS AIS fishing net tracking buoy (about 100 $, rechargeable battery for 2 weeks of operation, 10NM range) . . . May not be legal in your country. |

Idea is to track dinghy using Lora/LoraWan GPS trackers and see them on a chartplotter as AIS targets.
So the gateway plugin should generate nmea AIS messages for tracked dingy, location of which
can come from Lora, LoraWan or cloud service.
Thanks,
