Describe the bug
Textures do not load when checked in settings. Patches tab through game properties doesn't show any patches unless you unplug the usb storage, stating "No patches are available for this game".
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior for textures:

  1. Go to Game properties then graphics
  2. Turn on load textures and asynchronous texture loading.
  3. Launch game
  4. No texture replacements.

Expected behavior for textures
Launch game and see specified replaced textures.

Steps to reproduce the behavior for patches:

  1. Put patches in correct folder.
  2. Go to Patches tab in Game properties
  3. See "No patches are available for this game"
  4. Unplug external ssd
  5. Go back to Patches tab in Game properties see your patches.
  6. Also they aren't useable.

Screenshots
If applicable, add screenshots to help explain your problem.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • Console: Series X
  • Version v2.0.3

Does this occur on PC PCSX2?
Not sure, probably not

Additional context
I'm using a properly set up external ssd. Yes the patches and textures are correctly named and is in the correct folder.

Turns out my patches issue was because I had over 3,000 pnach files in that folder. I removed most of them and they worked fine after that.

Downgrading to version 2.0.2 allows replacement textures to work again. I will continue to use that version, for now.
Like others here, replacement textures on v2.0.3 with a Series X does not work.

Thanks tangomike99 for sharing that workaround. That has got me going downgrading from v2.0.3 to v2.0.2.
Xbox Series S. Metal Gear Solid 2. 28K+ textures (Bl4ckH4nd).

Workaround for textures not loading in 2.0.3 is to enable load custom textures, switch to software renderer and then back to hardware. Textures will be loaded now.
