How persisted values are removed when experimental_createPersister is used?

I'm trying to switch to experimental_createPersister in our app. The idea is great - store by item for fast access etc.
We're using react-native-mmkv for storage. Works great.
One thing though I cannot understand: how a persisted value is cleaned if a query that used it before is not mounted again?
Example:

• mount a query queryKey = [message, 1], maxAge=5 minutes
• cache is empty, value is written mmkv.set('tanstack-query-[message, 1]', 'my message')
• 10 minutes pass
• mount same query queryKey = [message, 1], maxAge=5 minutes
  • since 10 min > maxAge (5 min), cache is removed
  • new cache is saved
• The user closes the application
• After opening it again the same query is not mounted anymore.

Question: when and how persisted value will be removed for queryKey = [message, 1]?

Thanks for the reply! We already implemented manual clean-up similar to that linked issue. We'll be waiting for a proper solution in the meantime.
