Hello! This project seems great.
But as I was trying to have a quick look at it:

  • I noticed that there is no footage of it in action on YouTube or anywhere I looked.
  • I noticed that the pipeline does not produce a build artifact (which would allow visitors to simply download it and run it).

There is no quick way of getting an idea of the project's general shape and progress. Maybe those would be good ideas, to give a taste to contributors. we're only humans :-)

Welcome.

no footage of it in action on YouTube or anywhere I looked

This project is currently not very presentable to the general public in its current state.

  • It's hard to make promises when it looks like a scrappy 2000s tech demo on the outside. The internals of the codebase are quite powerful, however.
  • I've been planning on making a long technical introduction video to the project, but this had been pushed back a few times due to major architectural improvements (really not a bad thing).
  • A sudden surge of people can kill the project through various means. I don't want to answer questions for all my free time.
  • Working code is higher priority. This project is like 95% engineering and having the 'space simulator' parts work is crucial; there are very few people who could pull this off. We're planning a minimum-viable-product (some kind of lunar lander demo) to be released before ramping up publicity.

Besides the discord server, there is a publicly-accessible place that I sometimes post clips in: https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/OpenSpaceProgram

the pipeline does not produce a build artifact

It does, though I'm not sure if it's accessible to others outside the github organization.

For example, see: https://github.com/TheOpenSpaceProgram/osp-magnum/actions/runs/10610459504 .

This isn't a 'release', as it's only really useful for developers, and most people looking for a playable game would just be disappointed.

This project is literally rocket science, and we're working unpaid on free time out of passion. There's a bit of a bus factor on me at this time, admittedly, but that's just the nature of these kinds of projects. Cheers.

Of course I'm not saying you should go faster :-)
I'm just circling around this project like a buzzard, wondering if I should participate.

Maybe you have an executable that you could send me (as a one-time thing)?

Sorry, I forgot about this after getting burnt out for a while.

For example, see: https://github.com/TheOpenSpaceProgram/osp-magnum/actions/runs/10610459504 .

Did this link work?

if not, here's the same zip from the link (assuming windows?) : OSP-windows-2022-Release-msvc(3).zip
