Is there an objective purpose to the point cap being based on number of players capturing? It's proven difficult to balance the values of point capture vs kills, and attrition strategies play a major role in that. If the point cap were static (one base value increased incrementally with no player amount-based multiplier), I feel it would be much easier to balance. This is also how most other esports/video games handle capture points. Either that, or they have a max cap speed.
Size of an army would still matter greatly in terms of wiping the enemy, but it would make it so that if a small force has banner control, they can just as easily gain points.
So implementing a max players on cap option and/or implementing an option to make it a "binary" capture (either defenders have control or attackers have control. No point stacking like it is now).
