Here in Venezuela we are using colab [0] for Canaima GNU/Linux project, here we have many servers dedicated or virtual machines for support many services like mailman, trac, git, etc.
What are the hardware requirements deploy for colab software?
How many Memory and Hard-disk space?
How many CPU for use?
An dedicate machine or a Virtual machine for host colab?
All services that integrated colab in the same machine? or it is possible integrate colab across a intranet with services hosted at different machines?
Well any idea or comments, help me with these questions please !
We don't actually have a minimum spec for Colab to run and also it will depend on the actual amount of hits you will get on your instance.
Currently Interlegis' Colab is running on 4 different machines but you could run it all in just one. I would say that you would need in the minimum 4gb RAM, 2 CPU cores and 1gb for hard drive (obviously you will need more than 1gb because you will be hosting SVN, mailinglist archives and attachments here as well).
It doesn't make much difference if you are using dedicated or virtual machines.
We opted to merge a lot of the services in just one machine to make the setup easier with vagrant + puppet.
Using the puppet that comes with the new Colab you would get "Django project + Solr + Punjab + Cronjobs" up and running.
