One potential issue is that the anaconda install on desktop@ucl is massively out of date. So users will see different versions of the notebook

Yeh, that's why the makefile generates a zip of v2 notebooks. (Using nbconvert you can generate old-fashioned ipynb files.)

the new PR #7 update the instructions for the personal computers, I still need to check whether desktop@ucl can run python 3.
