[Feature Request] more than one note in Quick Note #345
Comments
To be honest, the main reason to write Quicknote was to have something shockingly simple unlike most common post-it applications, where I spend more time managing the options and organizing notes than actually taking notes while e.g. on the phone and cannot find a pen. Making the current Quicknote (optionally :) ) multipage in some form wouldn't hurt I guess. Thanks for the suggestion. |
point taken (simplicity) ! |
Trying to think this through - I don't think a multi tab quicknote in the applet will visually work - you will need to click on the icon - click on the tab and then type. Probably better to create a quicknote per instance of the applet added to the panel - so add two quicknote applets - you have two separate quicknotes to enter info into. That then leaves the question of how to migrate from a single quicknote as currently implemented into such a future implementation. Could use the uuid for the applet instance as part of the name I am guessing to create unique filenames. |
Personally, wouldn't like a tabbed solution, nor do I think a multiple occurrence is very elegant, and costs extra panel-space.. |
That's kind of an alternative to a tabbed solution. You have to click with the mouse, click an arrow and then type. The key reason why quicknote just works is that it's a click and type mechanism. Or if we consider the other issue raised, keyboard shortcut and type. |
Yeah, still think the simple click and type is what makes it work. For those who want it more complicated, could be like I suggested, as an (gsettings) option. Tabs would really make an ugly interface imo, click, then see the tabs. Multiple occurrences would kind of turn the panel into a tabbed quicknote bar, and always a surprise which note you'd see popup. Btw, in the past, tried to make it work from the keyboard. Then it didn't work because a popover-popup, activated -not- by a mouseclick, has focus issues. It did popup, but unable to type in it. Maybe it's different now. |
Hi,
Using the applet Quick Note is very helpful, however, it will be interesting to be able to write more than one note (like most of the Post It applications allows to do).
Thanks for the good work.
