first year PhD students entering the neuroscience field that work with any kind of biomedical or biological data (or related simulated data). The material is in fact applicable to the larger field of computational biology, the only reason for namely limiting the target students is to be able to have the example datasets and assignments from a smaller subset, e.g. neuroscience.
