Darksiders (50620)

Hello,
I just tested Darksiders with Steam Play,
the game launched but I obtain only a black screen instead of cinematics and main menu.
This are a know issues with Wine and happily there are easy workarounds:

• install D3D_compiler43 with Winetricks for the main menu to be visible
• install devenum and wmp9 with Winetricks for the cinematics to play, should be related to issue The codecs and media frameworks support meta-tracker #1464.

After that the game is stable and could be even whitelisted

Hi,

I'm doing some research for my issue at number 1464. That issue deals with cinematic/video playback. Most of the listed games already have a proton log attached to their issue, but this game does not.

Could somebody be so kind as to upload a proton log from a clean install?

I need to search in the proton log for mentions of MF or quartz, so that I can categorize the game.

Here is a proton log as well as the media info of one of the videos. It's .wmv with WMV3 and WMA2 inside. The game uses quartz.dll

Turns out only some of the videos use WMA2. The others are WMA Pro.

With proton 7 the main menu will be a black screen

installing d3dcompiler_42 d3dx9 fixes the black screen

Proton 8 just crashes

Proton experimental launches but the main menu is broken

it gets fixed the same way as proton 7, by installing d3dcompiler_42 d3dx9 in the prefix.

The game will also prompt installers when creating the prefix and verifying game files

Steam cloud doesn't work on steamdeck in this game. After some play remove proton files from steam deck menu. After launch prefix recreated but saves missing.

Fix for menu: install via protontricks d3dcompiler_47 only. Tested: proton 9.0-beta, proton GE 9.4

Also proton GE 9.4 plays all cutscenes: skipped in 9 beta with sounds, other - only video
