Bug: Skyrim & Skyrim SE Script Will Not Execute #3048
Comments
Hello @LegoManIAm94, please add In general, we're using one issue report per unofficially supported game title, but it's not clear how much your issue overlaps with #460 / #4 / #170 / #1069, so I'm not going to summary transfer this issue over to one of those. |
Here is the log with me using these mods... Dawngaurd.esm https://mega.nz/#!56522CYD!hKT7OCwW7A2GK-0R-m1nFDy-qPLVGQpViJ4-GTnEyd8 Proton Log

I redid the logs, before the logs were larger in size since I loaded a saved game and traveled to the place and spend a few minutes to trigger the event I wanted to log, I redid them so when I launched the game I just had to load the same and talk to NPC and do the dialogue to trigger the event. The log files are under 3000 lines now and smaller in size. |
I'm going to test this as I've over 25 mods installed in Skyrim: SE & functioning as anticipated. I'm hoping this isn't a wine issue... UpdateJust made Cabbage Soup, gave it to the innkeeper, & got 5 gold (i.e., it works for me). I think your issue may be related to SKSE64 installation. I've installed the script extender many times (Oblivion, Fallout 3, New Vegas, Skyrim [Both now]), the Special Edition install is the first time I screwed up. SkyUI wasn't working for me initially; that's when I realized the problem was caused by me not copying the ../Data/Scripts folder within SKSE64 to my Skyrim SE directory. Lastly, please fix the broken grammar: don't use "an" unless the word starts with a vowel. Thank you! |
What inn did you test this in. I have tested the cooking job in the Candlehearth Hall in Windhelm and it did not trigger the script. I also tested the Smithing Forge job from Oengul War-Anvil and the Anga's Mill's sawmill job. I do not have SKSE installed for Skyrim or Skyrim SE and the Jobs mod does not require SKSE to run. |
I just did a fresh install of Windows 10 on my old laptop and installed Skyrim 2011 with the Jobs mod but without SKSE and the script will not execute. I looked closer at the script and it turns out it does require SKSE to work which I did not realize until now. Thank you for pointing this out. I thought this was something to do with Wine but I guess the mod requires SKSE which I do not have installed. I will need to figure out how to install SKSE on Linux. |
Hello,
I am a Skyrim modder and I made a mod this year called Jobs. Jobs has been well tested on Windows 10 and I recently got into Linux and I have been playing Skyrim using Steam Play. I have found one bug with my Jobs mod that is only present in Linux.
The bug is, when I go to get paid from the boss in the Jobs mod I will not receive any payment. I digged deeper and to my understanding Proton/Wine does not execute the script or only partially executes the script.
I even made a simple mod using the same script and it works on Windows 10 but does not execute in Linux. You can download the simple mod in the link below which is a simple recreation of the bug I made to help fix this issue. All you need to do is download the mod, install the mod and then talk to any NPC in the game and activate the Linux Wine Bug topic to "trigger" the script.
Please fix this little bug. This fix can also make many more mods work in Skyrim, I also hope this bugfix will also make its way into Wine and not just Proton.
