Allowing users to retrieve just the count of resulting records for a given query.

What would be the impact of such a method? Will users want to get just counts for a given query?

There is such a method, but it is not advertized to the public. As it is just as expensive to get an accurate count as it is to get the records with the count, we deemed it necessary only to reveal the latter.
