I've made some compromises to in the interim in order to get to a MWE, that are not meant to be final. Because of historical use of windSE and FLORIS I used a separate thrust/power curve csv file that would ideally be nested into the turbine specification yaml. for now though there's a relative path in the turbine spec yaml but that started to break stuff. i switched to using a helper function to deal with this. this should be eliminated in the future and windIO, I think, should handle the entirety of the turbine specification and thrust/power curve business.
