While the Vulkan backend should perform better than OpenGL, OpenGL support tends to be more mature than Vulkan support in a number of graphics drivers / platforms (at this time - and especially if using older drivers). We've had a few reports of oddities with Vulkan performance on Linux that have been resolved when replacing / updating graphics drivers (or the whole graphics stack). If you're up for installing Are you using any WZ mods? And what build of WZ were you using? |

Is it of the to old Vulkan version? (1.2.141) (K)Ubuntu 21.04 will have a newer Vulkan version. Maybe i have time to test with a live image of the beta version from (K)Ubuntu.

I also have less FPS with a Vulkan. In some scenes, by almost a third (900 instead of 1400 sk-rush), in others the same (800 at the beginning of the beta campaign). I can't make a real scene with a FPS drawdown. |

This is a bit of a different situation, given that you are disabling vsync. WZ does not optimize for 1000s of FPS with vsync disabled (and I'm not sure how accurate the FPS indicator in-game actually is in such a circumstance). I'm glad both are getting plenty of FPS. 😄 |

hmm... you have an older Kernel and older CPU/GPS but higher FPS. interesting... tested now also Beta Campaign beginning. still about the same FPS as above. I have a resolution of 2560x1440. I also tested with a resolution of 1920x1080 (display still have 2560x1440) and gut a bit higher FPS of 60 with opengl |

A friend of mine has random GPU performance problems on the i7-1065G7 (Iris® Plus Graphics) . |

While this is a slightly older article, it provides an example of a configuration where Vulkan performance is actually worse:
So while there's more we can do in the backend, it's also possible that the drivers have their own impact. |

i tried now with the 4.0.0beta1 deb package. About the same FPS as before. but got now a graphic glitch with vulkan and yes i will use opengl as long it performs better. only want to help to get vulkan support better as i think it would be the future. |

i did some more tests. it looks like the antialiasing drops the FPS very fast.

@ximex: Ah - it doesn't surprise me much that antialiasing would be a culprit. Glad to hear with antialiasing off you get 60FPS. That's a fascinating graphical glitch though - huh |

Hi,
I was testing the new Vulkan API and i'm wondering that the performance is really bad. I got ~57 FPS with OpenGL but only ~16 FPS with Vulkan. Shouldn't be Vulkan better than OpenGL?
Is there anything that i should test or logs that i should send?
