For "Edit Decals", it'd be really useful to be able to specifically toggle on/off Shadow decals and all other (Common) decals.
Shadow decals can get in the way of placing/re-arranging Common decals or vice versa depending on which pass was done first.
For "Edit Gameplay Objects", a similar thing - but this time the distinctions I propose are:
1.) Common Hotspots (Characters, DHS, Sound, Water, etc.)
2.) Path Points, Jump Nodes and Nav Hints.
3.) Nav Regions. (Especially this one. Due to their size they really can get in the way of everything and unnecessarily so since usually they're just placed once and that's it. Or at least, that's been my experience.)
As far as I know, the Layering system in Fason's upcoming Toolbox mod can/does/will technically provide all this functionality anyways - but i still think that it could have it's uses even with that system.

I've since learnt that Nav Hints, Nav Connections and Nav Regions can already be toggled in the View menu, which also disables the ability to select them.
So yeah, whoops, no need for that.
