I don't think this is accurate. However I believe flatpak is somewhat popular.
I don't know the Linux ecosystem well enough to know if this is a must-do or not.

The repo isn't currently in a state that it can easily be integrated into standard distro package management. There's a lot of work to be done for that. I don't know if the requirements are similar or fewer on flathub.

If you can fill out this issue with more research on these topics, it would be useful.

it's what all the popular distros use besides ubuntu which makes the deeply unpopular not foss snap.
