Wow! I didn't know about this rivalry between Wix and WordPress.

Violating the terms of GPL license is indeed illegal and Wix should have been penalized for that but they escaped with some trickery on their part.

The ad campaign targeting WordPress was particularly in bad taste.

But WordPress marches on and the poor state of Wix in terms of its market share is deserving.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this topic. Was definitely a noteworthy issue to include as part of the WordPress story.
