2. Introduction
Before creating a project, a resource container must first be imported. Resource containers follow the Unfolding Word Resource Container specification: https://resource-container.readthedocs.io/en/latest/
Resource containers can be found from door43: https://live.door43.org/en/ Please note that only USFM resource containers are currently supported, though support for resources such as translationNotes, translationQuestions, and translationWords is on the way using the markdown format.
To quickly get started, download the English ULB here: https://git.door43.org/WycliffeAssociates/en_ulb Download the resource container, and extract it.
Once you have opened Otter and downloaded a resource container, import it by going to File -> Import Resource Container. Be sure that the directory you import is the directory where the manifest.yaml file is at the top level.
Once you have imported a resource container, you can use the project wizard to begin a project contained in the resource container. Begin the project wizard by clicking on the floating action button in the bottom right corner of the home screen.
When selecting a source language in the project wizard, make sure that you select a language that corresponds to a resource container you have imported. If you select a source language that does not have a resource container, you will not find a project to create. We do intend in the near future to filter the source language list down to only display languages that have resource containers imported.
Begin by opening the Audio Plugins menu. Create a new plugin by clicking "New." You will be prompted to provide a name for your plugin, locate the binary (.exe on Windows, for example) of the application, and select whether the plugin can be used for recording, editing, or both.
Audio plugin files can also be provided to Otter, see the Audio Plugins entry on this wiki for more information.
To switch your active plugin, you can change which plugin is set for both recording or editing under the Audio Plugins Menu.
